Things You Can Do To Help Us Make Your Photos and Video Better

Getting Ready in the Morning

 Preparations

 1)   The groomsmen don’t have much to do except suit up and that can be realistically faked, but the bride preparations are much more extensive. Video requires action, and we need to be with the bride while she is in the process of getting ready, faking it after the fact is not ideal.

 Natural Light

 2)   Video and photo loves natural light. The bride should always try to choose a place for hair/makeup in a well-lit are, preferably by a large window.  We try to avoid indoor lighting (light bulb light) at all cost. The color temperature of tungsten light, (indoor lights) often have an undesirable colour temperature. This can create a grainy orange cast colour in the video.             NATURAL LIGHT IS ALWAYS PREFERRED!

 3)   Space is also another problem to consider. Our videographers need space to move around subjects we are shooting, so please keep that in mind when choosing a place to do your morning prep. Bathrooms and small or dark bedrooms are not ideal. Living rooms or well lit kitchens are fantastic.

Church & Reception Audio

 1)   Audio in churches and reception halls can be very tricky, large room produce       echo, the death of clear, crisp audio. This is why wireless lav microphones are a must in any church recordings. Unfortunately wireless microphones rely on radio signals, which can be disrupted by a passing police car using a scanner or even certain types of cell pones. The same applies with radio signal emitting electronic devices that may be in the church.

A solution to this problem, albeit a very rare one, is to directly plug into and record from the church’s PA system. This is something you will have to request and/or demand, forcefully at times. This method will produce the clearest audio possible and will make a noticeable difference in the ceremony portion of your video.

Reception audio is a much easier affair, as all we need to do is plug into the DJ’s soundboard to directly record everything from speeches to music.  As long as you let your DJ or hall know ahead of time, there should be no problem as it’s considered an industry standard to plug in for audio acquisition.
